FARAJA PROGRESSIVE REPORT JAN-MAY 2023

Faraja has been going on with its usual program. In January, the beginning of 1st term, we went on paid school fees for 8 primary pupils, at Kiangua primary school. According to the Ministry of Education guide lines, each pupil is supposed to pay KSH 2500 per term. In partnership with the parents we supported each pupil with KSH 2000 leaving KSH 500 for them to pay.

Secondary schools we paid KSH 5000 for each student. The students are 4 in number, 2 from Murembu Secondary school, 1 From Magogoni Secondary School and the last one From Kiiangiri secondary school. We are also supporting another student in a polytechnic college ( Nguruki polytechnic) Who received KSH 5000. This has still been done this may, since it’s the beginning of the 2nd term in the education calendar. These pupils and students are from disadvantaged families who cannot rise the full money for school fees. Some are orphans, parents who are HIV positive others are extremely poor.

We have held two youth seminars during the April holidays. The first was held on the 29th of April, 10th youths come to the meeting. The second one held on the 3rd of May, 30 youths showed up. These were the topics that were covered on both seminars:-

1.       Life skills

2.       Career selection

3.       Human rights

4.       Water bore diseases

5.       HIV/AIDS and STD’s

6.       Drug Abuse & Alcohol

This term we will be visiting different schools and polytechnics for the seminars.

The Feeding program for children goes on every Saturday at Faraja .
