Welcome to the Heartland of the Mount Kenya Region

Chogoria is a bustling market town set amid lush coffee and tea plantations and flourishing banana, mango and avocado farms.

The colourful rural township is the heart of Tharaka-Nithi County, a spectacular four-hour drive upcountry by ‘matatu’ (local bus) from Nairobi.

Chogoria is close to magnificent Mount Kenya National Park and Meru National Park, home to an abundance of East African wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, rhino’s and buffalo, giraffes, zebras and antelopes.

Set right on the equator at a high altitude, this beautiful region is blessed with an ideal climate of sunny blue skies and soft breezes through the day and cool, crisp nights.

Chogoria, with many schools and churches and a busy regional hospital, is a safe, healthy and friendly place and welcomes international visitors.

As we say in Kenya, ‘Karibu’ – you are welcome!
